7 Steps to Block Paving Perfection
We ensure every customer knows exactly what to expect with our simple 7 step process.
Free Site Survey – At this stage we take all necessary measurements and complete any risk assessments. We will mark out the area and evaluate the drainage options and discuss the final look you want to achieve.
Excavation – We carry out all our own excavations to ensure all preparation is correct, after the area is scanned for pipes and wire for utilities. We know that the secret to a good surface is what lies beneath, we lay out a membrane to keep our sub-base from mixing with the underlying surface
Sub-base – Our thoroughly compacted sub-bases reduce the risk of sinkage, at a depth of 100mm to comply with guidelines. We use different sub-base depending on the finish and drainage requirements – usually either Mot type 1 hard core, or recycled 20mm – 0mm recycled crushed concrete.
Kerbs & Edging – Laid on a solid concrete base for stability, kerbs and block edging give your driveway a uniform finish, for decoration or to act as a retainer where required.
Drainage & Manholes – With block paving, drainage is an absolutely essential consideration. We only use stainless steel metal linear drains because of their hardiness – anti-rust and crack resistant to keep your surface looking better for longer. We can replace any existing manholes with recess manholes, to maintain the look of your driveway while allowing easy access.
Block Laying – We lay your blocks in a pattern chosen by you and carry out all cuts once we are certain the base is finalised.
Final Finishing – Now we prevent any shifting of the blocks by compacting and joining with kiln dried red sand.
