What is the process for installing tar and chip?
One of our expert team members will provide you with a free quotation based on your needs, size of the area, drainage requirements and suitability of the existing surface. Before installation occurs, your existing surface will be assessed to see whether any maintenance or repair work needs to be completed prior to your new surface being laid.
First in the process is the installation of a gravel sub layer. This provides the structural base for your new tar and chip surface. Over this base, a thick layer of hot bitumen is poured where a subsequent layer of aggregate is applied over the top. This aggregate is firmly pressed into the bitumen layer to ensure a high adhesion and maximum coverage. Machinery is used to firmly roll this aggregate into the bitumen layer.
